The Lead: After picking up a win in their home opener, the Hollins volleyball team welcomed conference foe Averett in their first Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) home match of the season. Hollins matched pace with the Cougars, each team recording 31 kills, but the visitors were able to take a closely played match, 3-0.

Averett defeated HU a score of 25-22, 25-12, 25-21
The Green and Gold out-hit Averett, 11-7 in the opener but fell when the Cougars broke open the set late in the scoring. After falling in the second set, Hollins led late in set number three before seeing their guests take the final three points of the match.
Kenna Esquibel recorded nine kills while Faith Schaefer and Sophia Maurer each added seven. .
Maurer served three of Hollins six aces and led the back row with eight digs. Setters Zoe Brooks and Jaelyn Werley combined to assist on 25 of HU's kills.
