Panthers Dominate on Volleyball Senior Night

Ferrum College Athletics issued the following announcement on Oct. 21

 Ferrum College beat Hollins University 3-0 in Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) volleyball action tonight at Swartz Gym. Set scores for the league matchup were 25-18, 25-15, 25-18.

THE BASICS

The win was Ferrum's fourth 3-0 sweep this season. Prior to the match, the Panthers honored graduating seniors Cassidy Burke, Anne Carter Harding and Arielle Tritt with a Senior Night tribute.

The opening set was a see-saw battle up to 16-16. Tritt's kill was the first point in a 9-2 Ferrum run the allowed the Panthers to grab the set.

Anna Rymer and Sami Kircher had kills and Tritt had a service ace as Ferrum jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the second set. Tyler Sesker's kill got Hollins back to within two points at 12-10, but a 7-1 Panther run following that provided separation at 19-11 and Ferrum held on for the win. Taylor Joyner's kill from the left side a few minutes later ended the set and gave the Panthers a two sets to love lead.

The third set was tied 7-7 when Tritt put a ball away to put Ferrum in front for good. That point started a 7-1 run that put Ferrum out in front 14-8. Kircher's service ace gave the Panthers their biggest lead of the set at 23-11. Airiana Beverly's kill a few minutes later made in 24-17, then a Hollins service error ended the match.

Duffy's team will be back on court Saturday, October 23, at Bluefield State College. Game time is set for 7:00 p.m. in Bluefield, West Virginia.
