THE BASICS

Bluefield State led 20-16 in the opening set, but the Panthers clawed their way back with an 11-5 run down the stretch. Arielle Tritt's service ace ended the set and gave Ferrum the 1-0 lead.

The third set was tight, with Bluefield State leading by no more than four points throughout. Ferrum tied the set at 20-20, but the visitors used a 5-2 spurt to end the set and trim the lead to 2-1.

The Big Blue slowly pulled away, building a 20-14 lead, and looked to be on their way to winning the fourth set. Ferrum had other plans though, storming back with an impressive 11-2 run that ended with Shelby Waltrip's kill to end the match.
