Meet the New board Julie Phillips, Director of Botetourt County Libraries

12

Town of Buchanan issued the following announcement on Sept. 17

Julie Phillips, Director of Botetourt County Libraries

What does your job entail?

As the Director of Botetourt County Libraries, my job entails building a curious, creative, connected community by making it easier for people to find and share ideas. I'm always looking for ways to bring a broad array of innovative ideas to the public, encouraging entrepreneurs - and everyone else - to learn or try something new. It's a highly people-focused, varied and rewarding job!

What does being on the Botetourt Chamber of Commerce Board mean to you?

Serving on the Chamber Board means taking responsibility to help strengthen Botetourt's economy, one person at a time. It gives me a great excuse to ask questions, dig into real needs, and bring the full support of the Chamber to our local businesses. When our businesses succeed, everyone in Botetourt benefits.

What do you like doing outside of work?

Not surprisingly, I enjoy reading - primarily nonfiction books on a wide variety of subjects (including business). I'm also a "learnaholic" who takes classes for fun. I love spending time with friends and working outdoors with my horse and goats.
