There were 200 Black students enrolled in Alleghany County Public Schools District in the 2023-24 school year, 1.5% less than the previous year, according to the Virginia Department of Education.

Data showed that Alleghany County Public Schools District welcomed 2,836 students during the 2023-24 school year. Among them, Black students comprised 7.1% of the student body to be the second most represented ethnicity in the school.

Alleghany County Public Schools District roughly covers schools within Alleghany County and has a main office in Low Moor.

Among the six schools in Alleghany County Public Schools District, Alleghany High School recorded the highest enrollment of Black students in the 2023-24 school year.

According to Public School Review, Virginia public schools have an average student-to-teacher ratio of 14:1, slightly better than the national average of 15:1. Minority students, primarily Hispanic and Black, make up 54% of the enrollment, while white students constitute 46%.
