There were 491 Black students enrolled in Franklin County Public Schools District in the 2023-24 school year, 3.2% less than the previous year, according to the Virginia Department of Education.

Data showed that Franklin County Public Schools District welcomed 6,160 students during the 2023-24 school year. Among them, Black students comprised 8% of the student body to be the fourth most represented ethnicity in the school.

Franklin County Public Schools District roughly covers schools within Franklin County and has a main office in Rocky Mount.

Among the 14 schools in Franklin County Public Schools District, Franklin County High School recorded the highest enrollment of Black students in the 2023-24 school year.

According to Public School Review, Virginia public schools have an average student-to-teacher ratio of 14:1, slightly better than the national average of 15:1. Minority students, primarily Hispanic and Black, make up 54% of the enrollment, while white students constitute 46%.
