15

Ferrum College Athletics issued the following announcement on Dec. 9

The Ferrum College Department of Athletics has announced an update to its department mission statement, along with the development of vision and values statements, as part of a five-year strategic planning process.

Titled Iron Strong. Forged As One. the Panthers' new mission, vision and value statements highlight its goal of providing a first class experience within a supportive atmosphere that reflects the diversity of our students, staff and sport offerings.

"Our five-year strategic playbook, the development of vision and value statements and the update of our mission, is the culmination of a collaborative effort that took place amongst the entire department," stated Director of Athletics, John Sutyak. "This process allowed us to reflect and focus on who we want to be and where we want to go as a department. It also highlighted the fact that we have a staff here at Ferrum that is 'Forged As One' to achieve our mission to provide a first-class experience for our student-athletes."

To realize this vision, Ferrum identified three areas of focus: student-athlete experience, organizational leadership and competitive success. Within the strategic plan, each area of focus includes initiatives and action items that will drive the execution and achievement across the department.

Members of the Strategic Plan committee included:

Cleive Adams, Head Football Coach

Carrie Austin, Assistant Director of Athletics, Senior Woman Administrator and Head Field Hockey Coach

Lauren Cox, Associate Athletic Trainer

Olivia Earls, Assistant Volleyball Coach

Bryan Harvey, Head Women's Basketball Coach

Gail Holley, Athletics Operations Manager
