Panther Women Lose on Golden Goal

Ferrum College Athletics issued the following announcement on Sept. 3

Ferrum College's women's soccer team dropped a heartbreaker tonight at home, falling 2-1 in overtime to Mary Baldwin University in non-conference action at Penn-Roediger field.

THE BASICS

Following a scoreless first half, Allison Setlak got Ferrum on the scoreboard first when she converted a penalty kick at the 49:52 mark.

Mary Baldwin's Annie Ammons tied the game in the 67th minute of play when she delivered a shot to the back of the net from 30 yards out.

Neither team was able to score down the stretch, forcing overtime. Ammons broke through up the middle and sent a ball in the upper part of the left net for the golden goal win just 13 seconds into the first overtime period.

Coach Erin Saleeby and her team will be back in action Saturday, September 4, at Emory & Henry College. The non-conference game is set for a 7:00 p.m. in Emory, Virginia.
