Alleghany County issued the following announcement on Aug. 18
As a reminder to residents, the County is continuing to partner with DHCD to assists customers experiencing economic hardship due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Multiple mailings have gone out to delinquent customers encouraging them to take advantage of available assistance; applications are still available at Alleghany County Public Works.
Customers with delinquent accounts are encouraged to submit their payments in the following manner:
Online Payment:
•http://www.officialpayments.com (Visa, MasterCard, Discover, and American Express)
•Select make a payment under local payments and enter jurisdiction code 6205
•Water/Sewer: Account number (9 digits)
•A convenience fee will apply.
•Online bill pay (online banking) through your financial institution (please allow sufficient amount of time to ensure your payment is received by the due date).
Pay By Phone Instructions:
• Call 1-800-2PAY-TAX (1-800-272-9829)
• Access number 6205
• Water/Sewer: Account number (9 digits)
• A convenience fee will apply.
In the Office:
Payments are accepted by check, money order, cash, or debit/credit card (a convenience fee will apply).
Drop Box:
Payments are accepted by check or money order with account number, please no cash. Payments will be posted the next business day.
Some customers may still have difficulty paying their water utility bills. If so, please contact the Alleghany County Public Works at (540) 863-6650 to speak with a representative to discuss options to avoid disconnection. Office hours are Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
