Craig County High School in Craig County welcomed most students in 2023-24 school year

Craig County High School had the highest enrollment among Craig County schools, welcoming 261 students during the 2023-24 school year, according to the Virginia Department of Education.

Of all the students welcomed at the time, 58.6% of them were male, and 41.4% were female.

Data also showed that most of the students were white, representing 98.1% of Craig County High School's total enrollment.

Among the two schools in Craig County, McCleary Elementary School ranked second in enrollment numbers with 209 students.

Craig County High School is part of Craig County Public Schools District, which roughly covers schools within Craig County, with its main office in New Castle.

In the previous school year, Craig County High School also had the highest number of students among Craig County schools.

According to Public School Review, Virginia public schools saw an average student-to-teacher ratio of approximately 1:14 in the 2023-24 school year, which is better than the national average of 1:15 in public schools.
