470 students enrolled in Craig County schools in 2023-24 school year

There were 470 students enrolled in Craig County schools in the 2023-24 school year, 1.3% less than the previous year, according to the Virginia Department of Education.

In terms of gender distribution, the student body in Craig County comprised 51.7% boys, with girls representing the remaining 48.3%.

Data also showed that white students made up 98.5% of the student body, the largest percentage in Craig County schools, followed by Hispanic students with 0.9% and 0.2% Asian students.

Craig County High School had the highest enrollment among Craig County's two schools in the 2023-24 school year, welcoming 261 students.

According to Public School Review, Virginia public schools have an average student-to-teacher ratio of 14:1, slightly better than the national average of 15:1. Minority students, primarily Hispanic and Black, make up 54% of the enrollment, while white students constitute 46%.
