Craig County schools welcomed 37 2nd-grade students in 2023-24 school year

There were 37 2nd-grade students enrolled in Craig County schools in the 2023-24 school year, 23.3% more than the previous year, according to the Virginia Department of Education.

McCleary Elementary School was the only school that welcomed 2nd-grade students in the county.

Within Craig County schools, the largest number of students were found in 11th-grade, while pre-kindergarten had the least students.

Statewide, Craig County ranked 131st in enrollment numbers. It was also ranked 131st the year before.

As of November 2023, according to Public Schools Review, Virginia public schools saw an average student-to-teacher ratio of approximately 1:14, which is better than the national average of 1:15 in public schools nationwide.
