There were five Hawaiian students enrolled in Salem City Public Schools District in the 2023-24 school year, 25% more than the previous year, according to the Virginia Department of Education.

Data showed that Salem City Public Schools District welcomed 4,318 students during the 2023-24 school year. Among them, Hawaiian students comprised 0.1% of the student body to be the least represented ethnicity in the school.

Salem City Public Schools District roughly covers schools within Salem City and has a main office in Salem.

Among the seven schools in Salem City Public Schools District, Virginia Virtual Academy at Salem and G. W. Carver Elementary School recorded the highest enrollment of Hawaiian students in the 2023-24 school year.

According to Public School Review, Virginia public schools have an average student-to-teacher ratio of 14:1, slightly better than the national average of 15:1. Minority students, primarily Hispanic and Black, make up 54% of the enrollment, while white students constitute 46%.
