Big Second Half Lifts Randolph Past Ferrum Women
Randolph College used a big second half to pull away and eventually beat Ferrum College 71-49 in Old Dominion Athletic Conference women's basketball action tonight at Swartz Gym. The WildCats outscored Ferrum 43-18 after intermission.

THE BASICS
Ferrum raced out to a 12-3 lead at 5:15 of the first quarter on three-pointers by Aisha Martin and Hannah Huffman, a jumper from Kayla Cabiness and two layups by DeMeisha Canada.
Canada closed the quarter with three free throws to give Ferrum a 19-10 lead after one. Randolph used an 18-12 edge in the second quarter to trim the lead to 31-28 at the break.
The third quarter was all Randolph, as the WildCats outscored Ferrum 24-12 and took a 52-43 lead into the fourth. Jessica O'Neil's three-pointer to open the third tied the game at 31-31, then Kylie Stark's jumper at 8:04 put Randolph out in front for good. Ferrum would get as close as 10 points in the fourth quarter on a Trina Lewis jumper with eight minutes left to play.
