Women's Soccer Falls in Season Opener

Ferrum College's women's soccer team fell 1-0 to Mary Baldwin University in a non-conference season opener for both teams this afternoon on the road.

THE BASICS

Ferrum had an early chance off a corner kick, but goalie Anyka Wilkin made one of her game-high six saves. Both teams traded several chances over the next 15 minutes. Mary Baldwin's Isabelle Fraher found the back of the net in the 29th minute to give the Squirrels the lead headed into the half. 

The Panthers had a chance to tie the game from the penalty spot, Fraher stopped Allison Setlak's penalty kick shot to keep the game at 1-0. Throughout the rest of the half neither team was able to find the back of the net.
