Panther Women Fall in Home Opener

Ferrum College Athletics issued the following announcement on Feb. 25

Methodist University scored three straight goals late in the fourth quarter to post the come-from-behind win over Ferrum College in non-conference women's lacrosse action at W.B. Adams Stadium.

THE BASICS

The two teams played evenly through the first half, and were tied 3-3 after the first quarter and 6-6 at the break.

Willow Cooper's goal off a Micaela Harvey assist at 3:05 of the third quarter put Ferrum on top, 9-8. The lead was short-lived as Methodist came back to score a pair of goals and took an 11-9 lead into the fourth.

Erin Reynolds and Tyler Harvey scored a goal each open the fourth quarter and put Ferrum back on top, 11-10, but the Monarchs answered with three goals to surge back in front, 13-11, with 5:47 left to play. Harvey scored one last goal for the final count.

Tyler Harvey scored four goals for Ferrum in collegiate debut, including her last goal of the game off an assist by her sister Micaela.

Coach Karen Harvey's team will be back in action Sunday, February 27, at home against Averett University. The non-conference game is scheduled to get underway at 6:00 p.m.
