Ferrum Men Beat Greensboro 32-15 in Wrestling

Ferrum College Athletics issued the following announcement on Nov. 12

Ferrum College picked up a non-conference men's wrestling win tonight at home over Greensboro College, winning 32-15 at Swartz Gym.

THE BASICS

The Panthers opened a 24-0 lead after the first five weight classes. Elijah Martin opened the night at 165 pounds with a decision, then Colt Oliver and Sam Slate each posted pins at 174 and 184, respectively, to make it a 15-0 match.

Braden Homsey won by injury default at 197, then Rayshawn Dixon survived a battle at 285 for a decision and the 24-0 lead. The Pride got on the scoreboard with pins by Daniel Porter at 125 and Josh Wilson at 133, and a decision by Joshua Cox at 141 to trim the lead to 24-15.

Ferrum closed the night with a pair of major decisions by Tyler Ramirez at 149 and Christian Hite at 157 for the final 32-15 score.

The Panthers also won three exhibition matches, starting with Trent Proctor winning a decision at 125. A pair of big men then grabbed wins at 285, Ethan Fragoso by major decision and George Mitchell by decision.

UP NEXT

Coach Logan Meister's team will be back in action Sunday, November 14, at the Cougar Open. The tournament is being hosted by Averett University in Danville, Virginia, with a 9:00 a.m. start time.
