Rachael Belinfontie Joins Hollins Track & Field Staff as Volunteer Assistant Coach

Hollins University Athletics issued the following announcement on Oct. 7

Hollins University Head Track & Field Coach Robert Sullivan Jr., announced Wednesday the addition of Rachael Belinfontie as a volunteer assistant coach on his staff.

Belinfontie will focus on coaching the throwers in the hammer and weight events at Hollins. No stranger to the Roanoke area, Belinfontie is 2016 graduate of Lord Botetourt High School.

"I am very excited at add Coach B to our staff," said Sullivan Jr. "It was a pleasure watching Rachael excel in shot her senior year at Lord Botetourt when I was on the staff as a distance coach. Rachael is a hard worker and will help our student-athletes in weight throw and hammer. She will be an excellent mentor for the young women in our program. I look forward to working with her on our staff."

Belinfontie played three years of softball at LB before joining the Indoor and Outdoor Track and Field programs her senior year. As a first time thrower, she threw discus and shot put, earning All-Conference and All-Region in shot put for Indoor Track and Field and All-Conference, All-Region, and All-State in shot put for outdoor track and field, with a personal record of 38' 1.75".

Belinfontie  went on to throw her freshman and sophomore year at the University of Delaware where she earned her Bachelor's of Science in Nursing with a minor in Forensic Science. While at UD, she learned to throw hammer and weight and continued to develop her shot put throwing skills.

The Hollins Indoor Track & Field season is set to begin Dec. 3-4 at the Cregger Invitational at Roanoke College.
