Hollins University Athletics issued the following announcement on Sept. 25
The Hollins University Riding team opened up its 2021-22 season by taking part in the renowned VT Tournament of Champions hosted by Virginia Tech.
Highlights:
- The Green and Gold finished fifth out of 16 teams at the invitational that features some of the top programs in the IHSA.
- Junior Courtney Wilson earned a first-place finish in Open Fences.
- Sophomore Mallory Francis earned first-place in Intermediate Fences, while first-year Emma Branche finished in first-place in Limit Fences.
- Sophomore Marissa Jones was third in Limit Flat and first-year Elyssa Parker placed fifth in Novice Flat.
- Natalie Dresdow was 3rd of 16 in Low Medal, while Wilson finished 1st of 16 in High Medal.
- Senior captain Kaeley Aroesty (Open Flat) and first-year Kaelin Shirley (Introductory) did not place in their respective events but had strong showings in the first show of the season.
Overall: 5th place out of 16 teams
Open Fences: Courtney Wilson 1st
Intermediate Fences: Mallory Francis 1st
Limit Fences: Emma Branche 1st
Limit Flat: Marissa Jones 3rd
Novice Flat: Elyssa Parker 5th
High Medal: 2 phase competition Courtney Wilson 1st out of 16

Up Next: Hollins will be back in the ring on Oct. 2 and Oct. 3. On Saturday, will be the Hollins SWVHJA Show and Sunday will be the Hollins Medal Finals and Derby Day.
