Town of Vinton issued the following announcement on July 26
The Town of Vinton and The Vinton Historical Society invite you to tour the Upson House, home of the Vinton Museum, where thousands of historically significant artifacts that relate to the history of Vinton and the surrounding communities within the Roanoke Valley reside. Some of the items date back to the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
The Museum has acquired more than 4,000 items for display and preservation. Exhibits include the Military Hall, Music/Church Room, School Room, Dining Room, Art Gallery, Kitchen, Children's Room, Bedroom, Business Room, and Tool Room.
The Museum also houses a vast collection of photographs from in and around the Vinton area — right in the heart of Virginia's Blue Ridge. Additionally, the museum keeps archives of weddings, deaths, military service, churches, clubs, organizations, buildings, homes, and cemeteries.
More than 1,000 people visit the Museum annually.
