Junior Sisk Headlines Pickin' in the Park

City of Salem issued the following announcement on July 22

Acclaimed Bluegrass star Junior Sisk will headline Salem’s Pickin’ in the Park” Bluegrass show on Saturday, August 21, at the Longwood Park Amphitheater. The event also will feature local bluegrass groups Wound Tight and Gate 10 and admission is absolutely FREE.

Sisk was raised in Virginia’s Blue Ridge region and has risen to the top of the bluegrass music industry by sticking to his genre’s roots and never getting above his raisin’. Currently, Sisk is nominated for top male vocalist, best album and song of the year in the 2021 International Bluegrass Music Association awards, that will be announced in September.

In 2013 and 2017, Sisk was named the IBMA's Male Vocalist of the Year. He has been honored numerous times by the IBMA for producing the song of the year and an album of the year. His current album release “Load The Wagon” has been on the charts for months with hits like "Just Load The Wagon" and “Best Female Actress”. Sisk currently resides in Ferrum.

Pickin’ in the Park attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or a blanket and enjoy the complimentary show. Food trucks and other vendors will be onsite selling a variety of concessions and adult beverages. Patrons are permitted to bring in outside food, but no alcohol is allowed to enter the premises from the outside.

Children’s games will set-up for that age group, but please remember that pets are not allowed at this event. This year’s event is presented by the Salem Parks and Recreation Department and Cole Bluegrass Shows. Pickin’ in the Park is sponsored by Pepsi and Skyline National Bank.

5:30 p.m.             GATE 10

6:30 p.m.             WOUND TIGHT

7:30 P.M.             JUNIOR SISK
