Roanoke Ambulatory Surgical Center issued the following announcement on June 2.
When a 68-year-old patient was experiencing ongoing pain in her lower leg due to poor blood flow, she turned to the vascular surgeons at Jefferson Surgical Clinic’s Interventional Center.
An angiogram and intravascular ultrasound, using a technology called IVUS, showed narrowing of the artery. A minimally invasive procedure – an atherectomy – opened up her blood flow and removed plaque from the blood vessel. See the before and after photos below.
Now the patient is pain free and has improved blood flow.
