Cost of college went up for all students at American National University

Tuition and fees rose 16.6 percent for 2018-19 at American National University, according to recent data from the U.S. Department of Education.

Virginia students paid $17,361 to attend the four-year private for-profit institution this year – $2,475 more than the $14,886 charged for 2017-18.

Data shows 100 percent of full-time undergraduates who started school in 2015-16 received student financial aid in some form. In all, 57 students received grants or scholarships totaling $428,182 and 54 students took out student loans totaling more than $378,250.

Including all undergraduates (1,072), 614 students used grants or scholarships totaling $2.7 million, and 396 students took out $2.1 million in federal student loans.
