American National University enrolls 1,020 undergrads

At American National University, 82 percent of undergraduate students are nontraditional students - age 25 or older - and 89 percent are female, according to the latest disclosure from the U.S. Department of Education.

The four-year private for-profit institution in Salem enrolled 1,072 students in fall 2018, including 1,020 in undergraduate and 52 in graduate programs, data shows. 12.2 percent of undergraduates transferred from another college or university.

34 percent of undergraduates are residents of Virginia, and 66 percent are residents of other states.

The undergraduate student body is comprised mostly of students who identify as white (39 percent) and Black or African American (31 percent).
