David Suetterlein, a Republican elected to the Virginia State Senate in 2024 representing the state’s 4th Senate district, used his social media platform on April 17 and 18, 2026, to address voting issues in Virginia and highlight a local high school theater production.
On April 17, Suetterlein encouraged constituents to participate in upcoming votes regarding redistricting. He posted: “Make a plan to vote! Its the bottom of the ninth inning and there are only 3 chances left to Vote No to Rigged Maps in Virginia. Verify the details of your specific voting location based on your address: https://t.co/ag0pt5HQXy https://t.co/2lzlXW5ZWr” (April 17, 2026).
Later that day, he referenced former President Barack Obama’s positions on redistricting over time. Suetterlein wrote: “2001: State Sen Obama votes to gerrymander Illinois, says it ‘just politics’
2016 SOTU: President Obama calls for bipartisan redistricting commissions
2026: He’s asking Virginia to suspend our commission to allow for rigged maps
Principles shouldn’t change with the calendar.” (April 17, 2026).
On April 18, Suetterlein shifted focus from politics by highlighting a community event at Salem High School. He posted: “‘Happy Unbirthday to you!’ Lots of laughs in Salem High School’s production of Alice at Wonderland. You missed Alice’s actual birthday tonight but you can catch her unbirthday, a hilarious Humpty Dumpty, and an energetic and truly mad Hatter at the Saturday or Sunday shows!” (April 18, 2026).
Suetterlein succeeded Ryan McDougle as state senator after winning election in November 2024.
