City of Roanoke Offices will close at noon on Friday, December 22 and be closed all day on Monday, December 25, 2023, in observance of the Christmas Holiday. Offices will also be closed on Monday, January 1, 2024, in observance of New Year’s Day. See more information below about changes to City services.

Solid Waste Collection

  • December 18-22, 2023 – All residential/commercial solid waste collection including trash, A Week recycling, bulk, and brush will be on schedule all week.
  • December 25-29, 2023 – All residential/commercial solid waste collection including trash, B Week recycling, bulk, and brush will be on a one-day delay all week.
  • January 1-5, 2024 – All residential/commercial solid waste collection including trash, A Week recycling, bulk, and brush will be on a one-day delay all week.

Roanoke Public Libraries

All Roanoke Public Library Branches will be closing at noon on Friday, December 22 and remain closed December 23-25, 2023. Roanoke Public Libraries will also be closed December 30, 2023-January 1, 2024.

Public Safety

Public safety departments (E-911 Center, Roanoke Police Department, Roanoke Fire-EMS, Roanoke Sheriff’s Office) will be on normal schedules.
